Q. How do I create and print a Chinese file in Adobe PageMaker 7.0 with Chinese Partner 6.0?
   
A. Follow the steps below to create a Chinese file in PageMaker 7.0:

 

  1. In Windows XP, click Start>>Control Panel. If you are in Category View (i.e. if you see the heading “Pick a category”), click “Switch to Classic View” near the top of the left column. In the “Regional and Language Options” window, click the Advanced tab. In the "Language for Non-Unicode programs" field, select “Chinese (PRC)” for Simplified Chinese input or “Chinese (Taiwan)” for Traditional Chinese input from the drop-down list.
 
 
  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+1 (for Simplified Chinese) or Ctrl+Shift+2 (for Traditional Chinese) to open the Chinese Partner's Input Prompt Line.
 
  1. Click the button to bring up a menu.
 
  1. Select "Insert Space."
 
  1. Click the button again.
 
  1. Go to the "Input Code Using" option, and then select "Unicode: Traditional Chinese" or "Unicode: Simplified Chinese"
 
  1. Open PageMaker 7.0 and select a Chinese font, such as TSC FMing S TT for Traditional Chinese or TSC JSong S TT for Simplified Chinese to begin creating your Chinese file.
   
   
  To print a Chinese PageMaker 7.0 file:
 
  1. Rename the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\PageMaker 7.0\RSRC\USENGLSH\PPD4 to C:\Program Files\Adobe\PageMaker 7.0\RSRC\USENGLSH\PPD41.
 
  1. From the menu bar, click File>>Print to print your Chinese file.
 
  1. When you run into the message as shown below, click the Continue button.
