| Q. | How do I write Chinese vertically in MS Word 2000 or 2002? | ||
| A. | Both Microsoft Word 2000 and 2002 support text orientation
for multilingual (including CJK) word processing. With a proper
configuration of your system (Windows 2000 and XP), you can write CJK in the
vertical direction.
Start MS Word and open a new document. Select Format from the menu bar. Look for “Text Direction” in the drop-down list. If this feature is active (i.e. clickable), please go directly to Step 4 below. If “Text Direction” is grayed out, follow the step-by-step instructions: |

| 1. Start>>(All) Programs>>Microsoft Office Tools>>Microsoft Office (or Office XP) Language Settings | |||
